The Best Group Activities in Melbourne
Melbourne is a city with heaps of things to do and explore, but sometimes it can be hard to choose. If you’re looking for a fun group activity to do with your friends or even coworkers, this is the list for you! I’ve tried plenty of different things across the city, from line dancing (yeehaw) to puzzle rooms, there’s something for everyone on this list.
1. Sensas – South Yarra
This is one of my absolute favourite activities we have ever done. Sensas is similar to an escape room, but instead of simply solving puzzles, you are using all of your senses to get as many points as possible. The games themselves are fun and challenging at the same time (I really sucked when it came to the smelling puzzles). Some of the rooms are dark, and you have to search for things; there’s a neon ball pit where you have to dive for frisbees, and you even get to taste some ‘food’ (some of which might be a little gross – sorry).
While the experience is incredibly fun, you are actually also supporting the community (which makes this experience even more worthwhile in my opinion). Because Sensas donates a certain amount to local charities that focus on supporting people with disabilities.

2. Alcotraz Melbourne – CBD
If you’ve ever dreamed of being locked into a prison and having cocktails served to you, this is the place to go. (Lol) No, but for real, if you like fun cocktail experiences, this is a great one to do. Before you’re even let into the venue, they hand you a bottle of alcohol and make you smuggle it in. And if that doesn’t make you feel immersed in the prison experience, they also give you these sexy orange prison jumpsuits to wear.
The whole experience is a mix between an interactive theatre play and a cocktail experience. You get to try four different cocktails while being given small mini-challenges that tie in together with the overarching storyline.

3. Drag Bottomless Brunch at Harlow Bar – Richmond
If you’re looking for a fun bottomless brunch, you gotta try this drag brunch at Harlow. Bottomless brunches are already such a fun activity, but the drag queens just take this to another level. They not only sing and perform but also include people there in small games, which makes it also feel interactive, not just like a performance. They serve a few different drinks and some banging food. Just a perfect bottomless brunch.

4. Boot Scooting Line Dancing – St Kilda, Richmond
This has become one of my favourite activities to do in Melbourne. If it’s with friends or even alone, this line dance class has always brought me so much joy. I do have two left feet and have always been hesitant to join dance classes, but line dancing is really great if you are a beginner dancer. The Boot Scooting Line Dancing classes are done so well, and they always explain everything in detail.
I have even taken my parents to one of these classes when they visited me, and they loved it.

5. Trivia at Francesca’s Bar – Northcote
I’m a big fan of trivia (even though I am really bad at it), but there’s just something so fun about having a few drinks and doing a quiz. It’s a chill way to spend time with your friends. The Trivia at Francesca’s Bar has been one of my favourite Trivias I have ever participated in. They put so much effort into making it interactive, and every round is different. There were even some minigames that some teams participated in to get a small prize – which I absolutely loved.

6. Ballers Clubhouse – Carlton
Having a night out is great, but having a night out AND doing an activity is even better. That’s exactly what you’re getting at Ballers Clubhouse, heaps of drinks and games like ping pong, darts and shuffleboards. They even have a ballping ping pong area (which personally seems really difficult to play in if you ask me). If you’re over just going out for drinks or you’re looking for a great place to hangout with friends (or even a first date) I reckon this is a fantastic place to go to.

7. 123 Boom Room – CBD
Last but not least, this is another fun experience room with challenges in every room. The big finale is a paint bomb that explodes if you’re not fast enough with answering the questions. There is also a floor-is-lava room, which just reminds me of being a child, to be honest. Between all the different challenge rooms I have done so far, this one is definitely one of my favourites because you have to do little challenges, but each room is very different, which keeps it super interesting. Also, the paint bomb at the end is super cool even though it was a little scary.
